Mini-Update
Don't have any pictures to post today, I worked late and didn't get a chance, but I did want to at least post that we DID pass our inspection this time. We have our certificate of occupancy and we are scheduled start moving in on Wednesday.

Move in Week!
Well, unless something unexpected goes happens, we will get our certificate of occupancy tomorrow from the county and we can hook up the electricity and move in. We are aiming for Wednesday or Thursday evenings being our moving days.
Wood floors are done upstairs and the installed has moved to the downstairs.
The greatroom is almost done.
This should be done tomorrow, but all the work stops until the inspector is done.
I am hoping that the next post will be the last one of the construction blog.
It will hopefully show the finished house.

Strike One!
Well our final inspection was Friday morning and we didn't pass. There were several minor electrical issues we needed to fix on the "red card". The electrician came back in and had them fixed within a few hours. The problem is, you only get one shot at inspection per day, then you have to make another appointment (pay the re-inspection fee) and wait for him to come back. Our next appointment is Monday and we should pass with flying colors.
In the mean time, I do have some progress to report. The stairs are completely done and the wood floors are done upstairs. Just the downstairs to go.

The painter did a wonderful job on the stairs. They came out beautiful.
The second handrail wasn't required for code, it just makes it easier for my parents to make it up and down the stairs. I wouldn't want anyone falling.
You can see that the stairs were stained to match the laminate floors. They are pretty close, but not perfect.

I like the way the dark floors look with the white trim and beige walls

Ready for Inspection
Looks like we are just waiting for the stairs to be varnished and then dry, then we are ready for the final inspection.
Stairs are stained, the only way upstairs is to go up the garage stairs into the attic, then out the attic door into the second floor hallway. Inconvenient, but at least they can keep working on the floors upstairs.
The cabinet maker made our stairs. I was very impressed with his work.
The Bosch cooktop has been installed in the island.
Fridge installed. Fits perfectly in its little cabinet
We picked a french door model.
The cabinet allows just enough room to fully open both doors
Dishwasher also installed. I can't wait to use this. I have never had one before.
So, one more day of paint and drying time, then the final inspection on Friday. As long as that passes, I get the keys to move in Friday afternoon.

Home Stretch
Remember that concrete slab for the mailbox.
Hurray...now it's a mailbox. The bricklayer must have been feeling creative that day.
The stairs have gone in. I think they look great.
The painters need to come in next to do the staining and varnishing.
Handrails and trim ready for paint
Pedistool Sink in Guest Bathroom looks very nice
Dishwasher installed....yes, the painter missed a drawer. He'll be back
Double Oven was waiting to be installed later in the day
This fixture hangs over the dining table
Fridge is still boxed up, but it should go in today also
Door Hardware went in today to keep the appliances more secure

Final Push to Inspection
We making our final round of finishing touches on the house. Looking at a final inspection sometime next week.
No, this isn't a headstone, it is the base of our soon to be mailbox.
Half of the driveway is in, it just needs the straight piece to the street next
Plenty of room here for basketball
Electric service already buried from street to meter box
Nicely smoothed and graded yard surrounding house
This pile of bricks will soon be my mailbox
Sewer pipe from house is being buried. Has to stay uncovered through the inspection.
The patio and balcony looks really nice with the rails in. Just need to be painted to finish it.
Vent hood is installed over island
Sink ready to be installed
Sink installed. Looks really good with the tile
View across bar into kitchen
Half Bath sink is installed
Tile for jacuzzi being installed
Finished Installation
Stairs are moving along nicely also. These still have a way to go, but they are working on it.

Ready for Concrete in Driveway
Not a lot new happened today, but we are almost ready for the driveway to be put in. They have been adding load after load of dirt around the foundation to set the grade away from the foundation and prepare for the driveway pad.
The driveway has a nice big backout for extra parking
Back yard nicely leveled also
Granite countertops have been grouted. The island is read for the cooktop to be installed.
Sink ready to go in here.
Glad I added this little desk area under the window.

Driveway and Granite
The driveway is going to go in on Friday, so today the dumptrucks came in and dumped 13 loads of dirt to grade the slope away from the foundation and prepare a pad for the driveway.
Lots of dirt right in front where the parking pad and sidewalks go.
Countertops in the entire house are complete and ready for grout tomorrow.
Island with cutout for cooktop
I am glad I had the granite backsplash put in.
Shower hardware was installed in the master bathroom
All the master bathroom hardware is from this same set.
There was enough granite to do the laundry room cabinets also
Balcony railings went in today. Just need paint
Wood flooring should go down by this weekend.
Pedistool sink waiting to be installed in Guest Bathroom
